About

Fascinated by the relationship between improvisation and composition, DI LEO does not deny there is music in his blood. Raised in Northern California, he began writing and performing piano in the first grade and grew to love a life completely saturated in the holistic world of music. With his intense and curious affinity for music, DI LEO simultaneously joined the Young Composers Program and started his first band in the same year. He continued to study and perform alongside many talented artists until he relocated to San Francisco to study Broadcasting at San Francisco State University. Music remained at the forefront as he started to converse with and record local artists on his weekly college radio show NativeSF which allowed him to find a footing within the supportive arts community in San Francisco. Using his previous solo moniker Edwards Crossing, named after a bridge crossing the Yuba River, and the founding of his band Seemway (2014 – present) he quickly began collaborating and producing a new body of work which manifested in his first solo full-length record You Wanted to Listen from Outside My Room I Guess. DI LEO explores the curious narrative-like tendencies of classical compositions while melding them seamlessly with reactive improvisational elements. He now lives in Oakland, CA and is under strict quarantine until this whole mess blows over.
